Free-range cattle are very common in Baja. They wander around the desert, eating whatever they can find. They pose a serious threat to traffic when they wander onto the road, especially at night when they're particularly hard to see. This is primarily why people are always advised not to drive in Baja at night.

Every now and then, some of them come sauntering through town in the course of their business.
