Check out this piece of driftwood. It's really freaky. Remember the subliminal seduction claims that were made regarding hard liquor magazine adds many years ago, where there were supposedly skulls, naked people, and other strange things deliberately painted into the ice cubes in the drinks, which was reportedly done to increase the viewer's likeliness to buy the product? Well, when I look at this thing for a while, I see all sorts of subliminal things. It's a guy with a scrawny, scabby leg and arm, a beak-like nose and mouth agape, swept-back shades, dark wind-blown hair, and a scorpion-like tail curled upward ready to strike, impaled through the neck with a pole, being towed by a chicken, as he is scooting up the beach on his butt, carrying in his right arm a large lizard with a large frayed tongue sticking out of its mouth, and sporting a backpack with a skull sticking out of the top of it (this latter one is tough to see at this image size, but believe me, it's very obvious in the full-res version). What do you see? And do you think that this will help sell people on the idea of visiting La Ventana? |
