I was awakened the previous night at about 12:30am by some voices a few hundred yards away in the general direction of La Paz. At first, I feared that they were Federales and that we were about to get busted for being at the island. But then I could make out that they were speaking native English. At one point, one of them said: "That's the boat from La Ventana".

The voices grew louder and and soon I could see that there were two small watercraft, probably kayaks, approaching off our port side. They stopped talking as they passed us about 30 yards away, and continued on to the beach in the cove. They fired up a couple of small lights and began milling about. I presumed that they were just fishermen, so I went back to sleep.

They spent the night on the beach, and in the morning, they headed back out to the sea. Here, one of them cruises by.  My best guess is that they were on a multi-day fishing and kayaking trip.
