2011 kiting season in nothern California
was not something I look back to with much fondness. Sherman overall had about the worst
wind that I have ever seen there in 20 years. And as if that weren't bad enough, I went
and broke my foot in early June, putting me on the disabled list and keeping me off the
water until late August. When I finally was able to return, I was relegated to riding
the surfboard strapless - not my favorite style for Sherman - until my bone fully healed
and my muscles strenghened enough to to be safe riding freestyle on the twintip in straps.
By the time I was fully recovered, the season was over. Basically it was a seaon I would
pretty much like to forget.
S
o,
it was with particular enthusiasm that I set out once again for La Ventana, Baja California
Sur in search of sun, water, wind, and whatever. I was not to be disappointed. I was blessed
with some of the most consistent wind I have ever had in Baja. And on the few days that it
didn't blow, there was plenty of other stuff to do, or not do, as usual. It was enough to
make the misery of the previous northern California season a distant memory. Just what the
doctor ordered. Nice!
